This unique watch, limited to 328 pieces, is inspired by Pierre Soulages' monumental work, 'Peinture 324 x 362 cm, 1986, Polyptyque I'.
On display at the Soulages Museum, this masterpiece made up of four panels measuring 81 x 362 cm each has inspired the dial of this exclusive watch. In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Soulages Museum, a valued partner of Baume & Mercier since 2021.
This edition of the Hampton embodies the captivating intersection between art and watchmaking. The miniaturization of the dial offers a fascinating interpretation of the large-scale painting, with an exceptional combination of technical prowess and aesthetic complexity.
The addition of a golden dot at the end of each of the hands expresses Pierre Soulages' desire to combine black and gold and to indicate time by means of two golden pearls.
The addition of a vegan strap made from a mix of cellulose and apple skin responds to the request of the Museum and Pierre Soulages himself to respond to the challenges of society and the present moment.
The play of contrasts of black with subtle matte, semi-matte and glossy tones, and diffuse layers, harmoniously captures the essence of Pierre Soulages' artistic legacy.
